Until that time, I did not know that BMW had cloned the Range Rover Platform. While viewing an episode of the British Series, "Wheeler Dealers", I saw the Air Compressor turtle shell like the one in my X5 in the 元22. I purchased a BMW X5 equipped with the 2 Axle Suspension system. I have been a member of this forum for a couple of years as the owner of a P38. Have any of you used any of these (or other) repair kits? If so, what was your experience? If that were true of the original part it replaces, we all would be replacing compressors with each airstrut failure. When I emailed i6, they responded that if an airbag fails, it would be a good and valid reason for their piston ring to wear out and fail, and void the claimed warranty. I wonder if Andy's ring is better quality? The i6 kit was about half the price of Bag Piping Andy's kit. The i6 ring did not fit the cylinder securely as the original ring does, even though the original is over 10 years old, and the i6 was only 6 months old when it failed. The compressor went back to working fine. ![]() I took the compressor apart, and replaced the i6 replacement piston ring with the original that it replaced. In August I did have a front right airstrut go out, and I replaced it.Īfter that, in November, the air suspension began having the intermittent inactive problem. ![]() I got the i6 kit in April to install as preventative maintenance. Have any of you guys used a compressor repair kit for the Wabco compressor?
